It’s happened; we finally got a good covering of snow. I know that to a lot of people the snow means it’s time to hibernate until spring but there are some of us who like to have some fun in the winter.

I try to spend as much time as possible outside in the summer so in the winter I like to catch up on indoor activities around the Twin Cities. Here are a few of my favorite things to do in the winter:

Cooking: I love to cook, winter gives me plenty of time to try new recipes and work out the kinks so I can cook them for my family and friends. Plus, the nice food helps take your mind off of the cold weather.

Go to a museum: The Twin Cities have a vibrant art community including lots of museums and studios. Escaping the cold winter by visiting these museums is one of my favorite things to do especially finding some of the smaller hidden gems around the cities.

Read books: I get quite the list of books I want to read over the course of the year. Outside of reading on a beach or in a hammock, reading is another thing that I don’t do when the weather is nice. The cold gives me a chance to catch up on my reading…and napping.

If the winter doesn’t scare you inside there’s plenty for you to do outside from all of the beautiful state parks to show shoe or ski through or going to the many winter themed festivals. Whatever you choose to do, enjoy your winter wonderland!
