Minnesotans treasure these few months of warm weather and what better way to celebrate than to get outside and enjoy the outdoors.
1. Get your Human Bowling on at the Backyard Bash
Something new that is going on in July is the first annual Backyard Bash at 6th and Washington on July 24th. And, the best part? It’s free! The parking lot of Sunrise Banks will be transformed into an urban playground with a DJ, human bowling (I’m a little nervous about being rolled down the turf), human sized jenga, hammerschalgen, and more. Beer and food will be available for purchase.
2. Enjoying the outdoor patio at Freehouse
If you want to be with all the cool kids in the North Loop area, this patio is the place to be. I wait all year just for this patio to open. Tucked away far enough from Washington Avenue it seems like you’re a world away surrounded by trees, tables scattered across and even a silo table with benches surrounding it. Of course, there is the Freehouse beer. Can’t go wrong there.
3. Take yourself (and your friends) on a self-guided brewery tour
If you haven’t noticed by now, there are plenty of breweries in Minneapolis/St. Paul. It’s as easy as hopping on the Green Line in St. Paul and exploring some great places.
4. Go for a run along Shepard Road in St. Paul
I’m training for the Twin Cities Monster 10 mile Dash that is occurring in October so I’ve had some great opportunities to explore. There are so many great trails to explore in the city but I have to admit one of my favorites is running along the Mississippi River on Shepard Road. There’s something about running with the river that is empowering.
5. Catch some great discussions at TedXMinneapolis
If you’re one of the lucky few who bought tickets before they sold out, then you’re in for a treat. TedXMinneapolis (formerly known as TedXHennepinAve), is going to be the place to be on July 31st. Six awesome speakers, interactive spaces and local food trucks and beer – You can’t go wrong. If you’re still looking for a ticket, we’re still giving away a handful. All you have to do is tell us here, Facebook or Twitter why you want to go.
