Lewis Black said, “I like coffee because it gives me the illusion that I might be awake.” Any of you who are unashamed coffee addicts like me know exactly what he means. Although today is National Coffee day, I didn’t change my habit of drinking far too much coffee and getting the jitters so bad it’s hard to type. Today just gave me a perfectly good reason to do it.

I really like what National Coffee Day encourages. Yes me and millions of other people drink a lot of coffee every day, but today is about encouraging people to visit their local coffee shops. Yet another great reason to support local small businesses. Yes you may make your own or visit a large national chain, but still today is getting many people to go out and visit their local coffee shop, bleary eyed; searching for a pick-me-up that will prevent them from walking out in public half-dressed.

Even though this is one day, you can come in and visit our coffee shop, Park Perks in our Como branch. You can buy coffee and a cookie when you’re there and all proceeds will go to the Anaphylaxis and Food Allergy Association (AFAA) of MN. So not only are you getting your morning buzz, but you’ll be giving to charity as well.
