About Tyler

Tyler Seydel joined Sunrise Banks in 2012 and currently serves as Chief Financial Technology – or fintech – Officer. His role combines elements of sales, business development, product and business strategy, operations for core and national products, and client relationship management and support.

Fintech has become a core part of the business model at Sunrise Banks. Tyler says he is proud of how the bank has adapted its own strategy around building this division.

“We have changed our sales strategy and engaged more intentionally and directly with the fintech market,” Tyler explains. “This has allowed us to secure more enterprise sized deals and create strong partnerships with our customers.”

Building a Strong Team

“What makes me the proudest is creating an environment every day where people feel appreciated and supported,” Tyler says. “It takes elements of synergy and intentional strategy to grow both our business and our people.”

Tyler embraces the bank’s role of being a force for good. “It means leading with abundance and embracing the building momentum,” he explains. He also relates best to the company’s core value Brightens the Room because, “there will always be cloudy days.”

Unique Career Path

Tyler worked in a variety of industries before coming to Sunrise Banks. He used to hold an international residential contractors’ license, so he spent several years building homes and installing roofs. He also worked as a DJ, in student loan collections and hydraulic repair. Tyler also spent time in the surety bond industry. Surety bonds help small businesses win contracts by providing the customer with a guarantee that the work will be completed.

Tyler has an MBA in Strategic Business from Colorado Technical University. He is also a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM).

Hosting Social Currency

Tyler co-hosts the Social Currency podcast, which is powered by Sunrise Banks. Each month, Tyler and co-host Eric Schurr introduce listeners to some of the most innovative changemakers in fintech and social impact, and how they are dismantling barriers and reshaping their industries for a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable future.

Tyler and Eric speak to those at the forefront of positive change through social entrepreneurship, unveiling the stories behind the revolution that is propelling us toward a world where everyone has equitable access to opportunities.

Personal & Community Interests

Outside of the bank, Tyler enjoys cars, cigars and off-roading. He is a proud father to a young son. He also enjoys volunteering with Feeding South Dakota, which provides temporary food assistance to thousands of people each week across the state. And although you would never know it, Tyler claims he is more of an introvert than an extrovert.
