Spreading Holiday Cheer

Last year, our Community Ambassador was contacted by Toys R Us and Babies R US about their interest in donating toys to local non-profits. We worked with them to put together a group of non-profits to give the toys to and also host a holiday celebration at our Arcade branch.

They donated around 250 toys last year that were given out to a number of children and their families invited by 8 local nonprofit organizations.

This year, Sunrise Banks holiday party included Santa Claus, Elf’s, Juice, Snacks, and grab bags with a toy and treat in each bag.  Each child was allowed to pick out a toy for their sibling(s). This year Toys R Us and Babies R Us donated over 650 gifts. The children were very appreciative and enjoyed wrapping the gifts.  Sunrise Banks had two rooms set up for wrapping and 7 volunteers helped wrap and tried to keep up with the demand. Our friends from Breaking Free, Brothers from Franciscan Brothers of Peace, Sunrise Banks employees and family members donated their time to the event. Sunrise Banks had approximately 250 children this holiday season.

The nonprofits served were:

  • Face to Face
  • Family Values for Life
  • Hmong American Partnership
  • Merrick Community Services
  • Luther Social Services
  • East Side Thrive
  • Breaking Free
  • Franciscan Brothers of Peace
