About Kevin

Kevin Valois is the Chief Financial Officer at Sunrise Banks. He manages teams focused on accounting, enterprise project management, financial planning and analysis, investments, asset liability and liquidity. He also sits on the executive leadership team which develops, communicates and executes the long-term strategy for the bank.

Kevin has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial sector. He started his career in public accounting, focused on financial institutions. Before joining Sunrise Banks in 2019, Kevin spent almost 20 years at KleinBank as the controller and CFO.

Core Values and Accomplishments

Kevin credits his parents for teaching him how to pitch in and help others. This is why the bank’s core value, Never Not My Job, resonates with him most. “My parents were always teaching us that if we can help, we should even if it feels awkward, unpopular or uncomfortable. In the end, what matters most are both the result and the impact you make on the individuals you are helping.”

Kevin says he is most proud of the work done to bolster the finance department at Sunrise Banks. “We added both a Financial Planning and Analytics team and an Enterprise Project Management Team,” he says. “By doing this, we can now better support the bank’s growth plans.”

Community Service and Recognition

Kevin is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). In 2024, Kevin joined the board of directors for the Minnesota Bankers’ Association.

In 2022, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal recognized Kevin as a CFO of the Year recipient.

Outside the bank, Kevin is an active youth sports coach. He has coached teams for football, baseball, basketball, softball and hockey.

Personal Life and Interests

Kevin received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Outside the bank, he enjoys cooking, flower gardening, hiking, boating, fishing, golfing and “cabin life.” He and his family own a golden doodle named Petey.

Kevin is also an active traveler. He says his favorite places to visit are Washington state, Yellowstone National Park, France, Spain and Croatia.
