Ten Minnesota businesses were named 2019 “Best for the World” honorees by B Lab, an independent, international certification agency that measures business performance. The Best for the World designation is earned by certified B Corporations that score in the top 10% in B Lab’s assessment process.
The Minnesota companies recognized as Best for the World include:
- Beehive Strategic Communications
- Russell Herder
- Global Gaming Initiative
- Peace Coffee
- Sunrise Banks
- CR-Building Performance Specialists
- BioGo, GBC
- Superior Switchel Company
- Last Triumph
Certified B Corporations are built on the belief that purpose is as important as profit. B Corps meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. By redefining what success in business means, B Corps are building a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
“I am proud of the hard work and accomplishments of the Minnesota companies recognized on the Best for the World list. We are all committed to doing well by doing good every day for our clients, customers and our employees. I am excited to see more and more businesses joining the movement and working together to redefine success,” said Sunrise Banks CEO David Reiling.
To celebrate the Best for the World recognition, Sunrise Banks and Russell Herder are joining other Minnesota B Corporations to host an event later this fall promoting community service and a shared commitment to using business as a force for good.
Globally, there are nearly 3,000 internationally certified B Corporations and 17 in Minnesota. Examples of other entities certified as B Corporations include Ben & Jerry’s, Patagonia, Hootsuite, New Belgium Brewing and Athleta.
B Corp Certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service — it assesses the overall positive impact of the company that stands behind it. B Corps from 44 countries were named to the 2019 Best for The World lists.
“We are excited to partner with the other remarkable B Corporations in Minnesota to work collectively on our shared goals,” said Carol Russell, CEO of Russel Herder. “Together we can deepen and broaden our efforts to achieve positive impact for our employees, clients, communities and the environment.”
