Bill and Joan Reiling have received the 2019 Catholic Charities Life of Distinction award, an honor given to those who live Catholic Charities’ mission through volunteerism, service and advocacy.

The couple will be recognized at the Catholic Charities Saint Nicholas Dinner, taking place Dec. 5. Bill Reiling founded Sunrise Banks and his son, David Reiling, is the bank’s current Chief Executive Officer.

Bill and Joan have been supporting Catholic Charities for more than three decades, providing philanthropic efforts to create the Dorothy Day Center in downtown St. Paul nearly 40 years ago and continuing to work with the organization today.

The couple provided capital funding to support the construction of Dorothy Day Place, which will be completed in the fall. The new facility will provide additional resources and shelter units for homeless individuals in the Twin Cities.

“Through their outstanding leadership and longtime support, Bill and Joan ensure that Catholic Charities can say ‘yes,’ when we are called on by the community to step up,” said Tim Marx, President and CEO of Catholic Charities.
