Sunrise Banks Names Diaa Abu-Shaqra Chief Information Security Officer

(St. Paul, Minn. | March 18, 2022) – Sunrise Banks has hired Diaa Abu-Shaqra to act as the bank’s chief information security officer.

Abu-Shaqra will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring a strategic, comprehensive enterprise information security program. His role will also entail directing the bank’s cybersecurity strategy and overseeing information security governance and policies.

His first day at the bank was Monday, March 7.

Abu-Shaqra has more than two decades of extensive experience in the in the financial, technology, education, and government sectors.

In addition, Abu-Shaqra holds numerous certificates. He is a Certified Information Security Manager, Certified Information Systems Auditor and Certified Cloud Security Professional, among other credentials.

Abu-Shaqra holds a Master of Science in Security Technologies from the University of Minnesota and is currently working on a Ph.D. in information systems from Dakota State University.
